Best Photo Spots in Winter Park This Winter

Up at Winter Park, we’ve got big views and even bigger smiles. Between all the activities and endless scenery, every moment is a memory in the making. So, you want to make sure you capture it all to look back on later (and brag to your friends back home about how you skied down THAT trail). Lucky for you, there’s no shortage of scenery up here at 9,000 feet, whether you’re trying to capture your next holiday card photo, a profile picture, or a landscape shot to go up in your office. That being said, we do have a few pieces of creative direction for inspiration. Here are our top places at Winter Park to capture “the shot.”

Top of the Gondola

Let’s start with a classic. Accessible and awe-inspiring, the views from the top of the Gondola are must-sees. Just climb aboard the lift at the base, enjoy a smooth ride up to  10,700 feet, and make sure to turn around to catch a full glimpse of the peaks. At the top, take a few selfies with Parry Peak. Then, if you’re feeling adventurous, cruise down one of our more scenic runs, Hughes (blue/black level).

Top of the New Wild Spur Express

New lift, new views. Take a ride up the new Wild Spur Express Lift with your crew over in Vasquez Ridge, and head to the top to see the Fraser Valley in all its glory. Squeeze together for a group selfie with the Rocky Mountains in the background, then pause for a quick snack break at our new Wild Spur Outpost featuring artisan grilled cheese sandwiches and hot tomato soup. You might want to get a video of that cheese pull. Just saying.

The Village

Of course, you don’t have to leave the base to find the perfect background! Wander through the Village for plenty of cozy, resort vibes, and step into a postcard (literally) at several of our walk-in frame installations. Continue on to the base of the Gondola for a shot with our Venture Out sign!

The Red Chairs

Want to get a picture from the lift, but worried about dropping your phone? Stop by the red swings next to the Gondola for that same chairlift feel, plus a little peace of mind for you and your phone. You’ll have all the time in the world to get everything lined-up just right, and who doesn’t want to sit on a swing for a bit?

The Panoramic Express Lift

“Is the Pano open?” is always a hotly debated question, but one’s things for certain: Those views are unbeatable. Located on the Mary Jane side, the Panoramic Express Lift will take you all the way up to the top of Parsenn Bowl where you’ll be treated to 360-degree views of the peaks. Not going lie, those shots make for great desktop backgrounds.

Mountaintop Après

Looking for some pops of color? We’ve got just the thing. Every Thursday through Saturday, enjoy a free Gondola ride up to the Lodge at Sunspot from 4-8pm for live music, food and drink specials, and unbelievable sunsets at Mountaintop Après. Warm up with a delicious hot cocoa cocktail and then gather together outside for a group pic featuring stunning shades of pink, orange, gold, and purple on Parry Peak.

See the Mountains by Moonlight

If you’re willing to go the extra mile for some adventurous photos (and memories), then our evening activities have your name on them. See the Rocky Mountains under the glow of headlamps and starlight during Moonlit Uphill and Ski by Headlamp tours. Or, stay nice and cozy in a snowcat and watch the sunset over the Fraser Valley on a Snowcat and S’mores tour. Whatever excursion you choose, you’ll have an exciting experience to talk about with your friends and photos to remember it all by.
