If seeking out mountains for spring break is wrong, we don’t want to be right (but we’re pretty sure we’re right about this one). In fact, we’ll go so far as to say springtime is the best time to be in the mountains! With blue skies, great snow, and warmer temperatures, you can find a variety of adventures, jaw-dropping scenery, and an easygoing vibe all vacation long. 

While Winter Park Resort is known for our world-class terrain, there are plenty of adventures to be had beyond skiing and riding (ever heard of Glow Night Tubing or Moonlit Uphill Tours?). There are more than 100 things to do on and off the slopes, but here are our top 10 reasons to book spring break at Winter Park:

1. The snow’s still good.  Feeling late to snow season? No such thing! At Winter Park, we’re known for having some of the most consistent snowfall in the state, so we keep cruising as long as we can. Our base sits at 9,000 feet with 3,060 feet of vertical rise (which puts our summit at a cool 12,060 feet for all the math aficionados out there). Thanks to high altitude, we get to play in some of the best snow in the U.S. late into spring. Hello, blue skies, sunny days, and good times!

2. We’ve got activities for everyone. Don’t get us wrong: we love skiing and riding! But we also love flying down down the Tubing Hill, gliding across the ice under neon lights, and grooving to live music at Mountaintop Après with a frosty drink in-hand. That’s why we put together a variety of activities for families who want the full range of Rocky Mountain adventures. From skiing and snowboarding to snowshoeing, daytime tubing, snow biking, and more, you’ll make memories from sunup to sundown with every member of your crew. 

3. Nighttime adventures abound.  Who says the fun stops when the lifts do? At 4pm, we keep the party going with all sorts of activities and events you can only experience in the evening. Load up the Gondola and coast to the top of the mountain for springtime alpenglow views, make s’mores in a firepit, go cosmic with Glow Night Tubing and Glow Night Ice Skating, jump into a snowcat for a sunset cruise around the mountain, or even stargaze with one of our astronomy tours!   

4. Rocky Mountain National Park is just a short drive away. What’s the only thing better than a mountain adventure? Make that TWO mountain adventures. Our resort is surrounded by thousands of acres of pristine wilderness and public land — some of which just happens to be Rocky Mountain National Park. So, hop in your car and take a short trip to see the Continental Divide from a new angle and maybe even spot some wildlife along the way (keep your eye out for moose, bighorn sheep, elk, and more!). Then, you’ll still have plenty of time for a cozy dinner and a soak in the hot tub once you get back.

Across 3,000 acres of skiable terrain and 171 trails, you’ll find everything from easy greens to less-tamed, expert-only areas.
