Winter Park Resort Live Music Guide

Some people earn their turns and some people earn their après! If you’ve been mastering bumps or steeps with your eyes on the prize of a cold brew after a hard day’s work, we want to step it up with live music. Join us at Derailer for performances happening every other Friday with the Fat Tire Music Series and each Saturday with the Coors Light Music Series.

If you’re looking for a local experience, this also fits the bill, as we support local artists, so you’ll get some local flavor.

Andy Straus
, Winter Park Resort Live Music Guide

Goes Great With: The String Cheese Incident, Punch Brothers, Greensky Bluegrass, Bela Fleck

Blending bluegrass, folk & rock influences, Strauss is pioneering an outlaw bluegrass sound.

Known for giveback events supporting the community, Andy is a local favorite – whether solo or with his band, Hunker Down. If you missed the last Hunker Down show, you can catch Andy at Derailer on February 10, 16 and March 2. Ask him about his recent incredible raft trip to Royal Gorge.

Kenny Lee Young
, Winter Park Resort Live Music Guide

Goes Great With: Ray LaMontange, Jamie Cullum, Stevie Wonder, Black Keys

You’ll want to tap your toes when Kenny hits the stage. He brings acoustic twists and signature soulful lyrics to his performances. Blending that with his unique rhythmic style you’ll notice the beer going down easier and your vacation relaxation mode switch on.

He’ll be performing at Winter Park Resort on March 10th and April 13th. Check out his music here.

Ryan Kelly
, Winter Park Resort Live Music Guide

Ryan’s origin story begins in the heart of the midwest- Iowa. But his sound and style elevated when he moved to Denver.

Check his music out now before his performance during the Coors Light Music Series on February 3rd and March 24th in Derailer.

Weston Smith
, Winter Park Resort Live Music Guide

Goes Great With: Hayes Caryl, Turnpike Troubadours, William Clark Green, Casey Donahew, Cory Morrow, Sam Riggs

Smith’s unique songwriting style, ranged from emotional,  lyric-rich Americana, to rowdy country anthems, to delicately crafted love songs.

Weston is a local hero in more ways than one. Not only does he delight us with his music talent, he is also a volunteer firefighter for Winter Park. And if that weren’t enough, he will readily share the ins-and-outs of the best Colorado craft beers at the MJ Ale House. Weston just recorded his third EP right here in Winter Park at the new state-of-the-art  Eagle Wind Sound, a destination recording studio. If you ask around to other musicians, they’ll tell you “he says the coolest stuff on stage”, and might even admit to stealing lines like “take’m for a walk boys” (ask Mike Wiedl!). Check out his band’s site, and see him perform live in Derailer on February 2nd and February 17th.

Brian Wiedl

, Winter Park Resort Live Music Guide

Goes Great With: Bob Schneider, Ben Harper, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson

Surfer indie songwriter playing laid back jams with an ambient, hook-driven rock sound.

Three words: illegal organ trade.

Brian and his band The Wiedls have made a big name for themselves in the Rocky Mountain scene in the last decade. And it might not have been possible without him illegally (sorta) giving a kidney to his twin brother… it all worked out, thanks to a judge allowing the, at the time 4th grade Brian, to give a kidney underage, and now they play side by side in The Wiedls. His laidback mountain surfer sound (think “Jack Johnson meets John Denver, brah”, per our local distillery’s chef) will bring undoubtedly happy vibes to the audience. See Brian live at Derailer on February 24 and March 16.

Chris Dismuke

, Winter Park Resort Live Music Guide

Chris, is a sasquatch level rarity: a Colorado Native!

Filling out his unique gifts, he learned the saxophone by ear at the age of 7, bass guitar at the age of 13, and acoustic bass at the age 25.

By then music was just part of his life.

He now performs 2-3 hour solo shows, often playing 3-4 times a week from Fort Collins to Parker. Along with performing by himself, he is also the leader of The Chris Dismuke Band. They just released a live album which can be found on iTunes and Spotify. Check out his site and get to know his music before his March 17th performance in Derailer!
