Winter Park may be a small mountain town, but we’ve been receiving some big accolades. Our latest achievement? Being crowned the Best Ski Resort in North America by USA Today readers! So why is everyone loving Winter Park? Well, we can think of a few reasons…
Groomers, glades, trees, steeps, bumps, powder stashes, shall we go on? With more than 3,000 acres of skiable terrain, 3,000 feet of vertical rise, and 7 distinct territories designed for every skill level, we’re sure to have any kind of trail you’re searching for. Pile on more than 315 inches of annual snowfall and you’ve got a match made in skier heaven.
While the snow and the terrain are already great, we’re working on making the experience at Winter Park even better. This year we added a brand new ten-person gondola, meaning you’ll spend less time in lines and more time shredding the slopes. Speaking of shredding, we’ve also increased our snow making capabilities so we can open more terrain earlier in the year. Sounds to us like North America’s best ski resort just got even better.
Tons of Adventures
Want to explore off the beaten path? Take a pair of snowshoes for a spin!
Looking to ride the trails you know and love in a new way? Try ski bikes!
Seeking an adrenaline fueled adventure? Rent a snowmobile!
Whatever kind of adventure you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it in Winter Park. From snow cats and tubing to hot air balloons and dog sled rides, we have it all. Maybe that’s why Elevation Outdoors named us Colorado’s Top Adventure Town two years in a row! Not that we’re counting or anything.
And while winter is in our name, our summers are full of adventure, too. After the ski season ends our slopes transform into the award-winning Trestle Bike Park. Mountain biking not your thing? Hike up one of the many trails at the Resort or one of the thousand miles of trail in the Winter Park area, zip down our alpine slide, try fly fishing, or give white water rafting a go. Plus with countless events and concerts throughout the summer months, you’ll see why most folks come for winter, but fall in love with the summer time! There are always endless ways to venture out in Winter Park.
Great Food Options
No need to rely on chain restaurants here, we’ve got you covered with local spots you’re sure to love. After a long day exploring the mountains, head to the base of Mary Jane for some good old fashion ski grub at Club Car. Dig into some queso or chow down on a burger to refuel after taking laps on the C-Chair all day.
On the Winter Park side, the Village has you covered. Stop by TripAdvisor’s Best Pizza in Colorado, Pizza Pedl’r, for a unique spin on the classic pie. You can try a slice topped with cream cheese or trade out your traditional tomato base with sweet chili Thai sauce.
If you’re searching for a quintessential Colorado experience, head up the gondola to Sunspot Mountaintop Lodge. Enjoy après with a view at 10,700 feet or make a reservation for Sunspot’s three-course dinner of Colorado classics like wild game or Rocky Mountain rainbow trout. You can also dash through the snow to dinner at Sombrero Stables. Enjoy a nighttime sleigh ride to a gourmet dinner in a cozy western dining hall at the stables.
Even Better Drinks
When you’re ready to take a break from skiing, stop by the High Craft Bar at Lunch Rock located on the top of Mary Jane. The bar stocks 12 different craft beers including New Belgium’s Mary Jane Ale. Craft beer connoisseurs won’t have to stop their tasting tour at Lunch Rock either. We have 118 unique craft beers across the Resort for you to try!
Just up the road in downtown Winter Park stop by the local watering hole, Hideway Park Brewery, or pop by Pepe Osaka’s Fish Tacos for Money Magazine’s Best Margarita in Colorado. Don’t forget to check out the town’s newest addition too, Fraser Valley Distilling. This distillery prides itself on making all of their own gin, rye, vodka and liqueurs. This newcomer is sure to be an award winner soon.
We know we’ve seen a lot of praise lately, but we swear it’s not getting to our heads. We’re still the humble, friendly locals we’ve always been and can’t wait to welcome you to our cozy mountain town. So what are you waiting for? Start planning your trip to experience Winter Park for yourself.
