Snow Report November 15

Well, hello there! Welcome to the 2018/19 season here at Winter Park Resort. We’re Amy and Jake, your snow reporters for the season, and we’re thrilled to be giving you the scoop on what’s happening here on the mountain each week!

Opening Day:

Yesterday was Opening Day at the resort, and boy, was it a day to remember! The season kicked off with some of our most impressive stats to date, including our highest snow total and most acreage for opening in the past decade! With over 42 inches of total snowfall and 55 acres open to skiers and boarders alike, the first day of the season gave everyone a reason to stay for the last chair! In addition to the awesome terrain, Opening Day also featured an appearance from the Denver Broncos’ mascot, Miles! Not only did he help to fuel the stoke in the lift lines, he also carved some turns of his own.

What to Look Forward to:

Sure, Opening Day was a memorable one, but we’ve already got our eyes set on this weekend! While we are currently running the Arrow, Gemini, Discovery, and Endeavour chairs, accessing eight runs and one terrain park, ropes will drop this weekend on slopes including  March Hare, White Rabbit, and Upper Allen Phipps. The forecast right now calls for plenty of fun, as we’ve got some new slopes to explore and an estimated 1-3” of fresh snow coming our way. With temps looking to be in the mid 20s to start the day, you’ll quickly be in the ski season state of mind if you weren’t already! Looking for a place to warm up or grab a brew? The Provisioner and bar in the Sunspot Mountaintop Lodge will be open this weekend, a perfect place to enjoy a quick bite or to quench your thirst!

Ready for the big news?? We anticipate opening up an all-time favorite, Mary Jane, in time for Thanksgiving. Make that a “Janesgiving,” if you will! Stay tuned for more details.

Whether you’re a local or a first timer out to the resort, plan to check out the newly upgraded Village on your walk to and from the slopes. Featuring a unique new slope-side swing set, a gigantic communal fire pit, and our proud new logo, the Village will be turning heads all day long! We couldn’t be more excited to swap stories around the fire and enjoy the enchanting atmosphere with you during your next visit!

Thanks for checking out this week’s snow report and be sure to subscribe for all of the resort news and updates! See you next week!
