Snow Reports

Snow Report March 28

We need to talk. We need to talk about this rad snow we’ve been having as of late! The past seven days since our last video update gave our mountain 9 inches in total. Among those 9 inches, the spring gods mixed in 4 gorgeous bluebird days. This is a form of March madness we’re all about! Plus, this coming week predicts up to another 14 inches, and a handful of sunny days to soak up.

We also need to talk about events! The kick-off to Spring Splash and Bash┬ástarts THIS WEEKEND! Every single weekend from now until closing weekend (April 22nd), hosts a major event or festival at Winter Park Resort. This week’s event? A family-friendly Easter Bash┬ácomplete with an obstacle course, multiple egg hunts, and more.

Conditions:

The snow this past week has kept the base deep and the mountain white. Warm days and cold nights have made for firm and fast conditions in the mornings. If you want to catch the snow as it turns soft, start on South facing slopes, then move to the East and finally to the North as the day goes along.

Chances of snow and cold temps through Thursday will keep the mountain fresh before a possible bluebird Friday. Then we’re right back to the chance of snow over the weekend. All signs are pointing to a great finish to March before we roll into April, a month which delivers big storms and beautiful spring skiing. Joel Gratz from Open Snow is now predicting continuing snow through early April, and patrol reminds us that Winter Park’s Aprils average 3-4 feet. We hope both of these predictions are spot on!

Where to Ride:

Patrol’s words of wisdom: stick to high elevation, shady slopes for soft and chalky winter snow. Good reports are still coming in from The Cirque as well as the shady trees Calypso, Willet’s Way, and Paintbrush. Or, challenge the famous bumps of Outhouse, which can soften up quickly on sunny days. If it snows, Cranmer, Hughes, Mulligan’s Mile, and Little Pierre will be great powder skiing on top of smooth groomers.

Event Updates:

This April brings a month of spring events like never before! We are featuring a huge event every single weekend, including the greatest live music and outdoor concerts around, the most outrageous parties, and the most fun-loving competitions in the state. This weekend is the kick-off to it all with a family-friendly Easter Celebration that includes multiple egg hunts (on and off mountain) and a friendly obstacle course that could get heated!

In the upcoming weeks, the events will be even bigger! We’re featuring The Big Wonderful with bluegrass and beer, A Beach Party with tropical drinks and lounge chairs, The High Noon Duel with high flying jumpers, and Spring Splash combined with Gaper Day. It’s going to be insane! Check out all the action.
