This week wraps up a snowy February and welcomes in what’s sure to be a fun-filled March in the mountains.
February was the best snow month yet this season, with 16 snow days, 63 new inches and 28 days of great skiing and riding. Now, March has the opportunity to rival those numbers. This week, we can expect to see a mix of days with great snowfall and days with sunshine and bluebird skies – ideal conditions for us skier people.
After last week’s 2 powder days, giving us a total of 10.5 inches, there’s still plenty of soft, fresh snow to be found on-mountain. And there’s more to come this week! Not to mention that the temperatures are slightly rising again and the sun is shining, so we could encounter one or two of those bluebird powder days that mountain dreams are made of.
Hit the slopes today and tomorrow (Wednesday and Thursday) for a bit of sunshine while playing in the white stuff. The weekend is predicted to be filled with snow from Saturday to Monday, and then Tuesday is expected to offer blue-sky play days.
Where to Ride:
Last week brought the gift of The Cirque, and with that territory officially open for the season, we wouldn’t feel right not recommending it to skiers and boarders coming up this week. Try out newly opened Eldorado and Waterfall.
On the snowy days this week, visit Larkspur or Belle Fourche to make deep, fresh tracks. And on the sunny days, you can still find powder in the trees off of Buckaroo or you can hit groomers like Aces & Eights and Gambler for quintessential beginning-of-Spring skiing.
All Seven Territories are open for the season! The only area we’re waiting on is South Headwall in the Cirque, which patrol is watching closely. We’ll be sure to open this last run as soon as possible, while still ensuring a safe experience for our guests.
Keep in mind that Rocky Mountain Freestyle Competition will be taking place on Ambush on Friday, March 2, so look for that to be closed to the public but open to spectators.
