Snow Report December 6

Happy December, everyone! The energy here is high as today we opened the local favorite, Challenger chair. Known for the leg-burning runs beneath it, the “C” chair is your one-way ticket to some of the most beloved terrain at the resort. A few of the runs sure to keep you entertained all day include Derailer, Needle’s Eye, and Sleeper. Thanks to continued rope drops at Mary Jane and Vasquez Ridge now being open, there’s no better time to come and enjoy some serious outdoor fun.

With a memorable November in the rear view, we’ve got our eyes set on what looks to be an awesome month ahead. Everything from live-music acts to the grand gondola opening are on this month’s calendar.

Conditions have been simply surreal thanks to a week that gave us almost a foot of snow. The chillier temperatures this week have helped to preserve the light, dry snow we’ve been receiving, which is now sitting on an existing layer of packed powder. The recent snowfalls have really hooked us up and we expect even more awesome riding as we head into the weekend. With the way things stand, we’re hoping for another 2-3″ inches in time for that Saturday first chair. These frequent accumulations really start to add up and with the way the resort is skiing you’ll see what we mean!

Where to Ride:

With Challenger now open you can expect high levels of stoke over at the Jane. Bellmar Bowl, Phantom Bridge, Freeriders, and more will all be fresh – we recommend helping yourself! If you’re looking to get away from it all then take the slope less skied and spin some laps on the Pioneer chair in Vasquez Ridge. The lack of people, the stunning views, and awesome skiing will serve as a great midday getaway.

With more than 800 acres now open to explore, there’s awesome riding and dream lines out there for everyone. From the Mary Jane bumps to the Vasquez glades and the Winter Park corduroy in-between, it’s all out there waiting for you.

For the Calendar:

The month of December kicks off a season loaded with fun. Saturday is Demo Day, the perfect time to try before you buy those new skis or board you’ve been dreaming of. Come check out vendors including Never Summer Snowboards, Gilson Skis and Snowboards, and Elan. Tents will be set up from 9am-4pm at the base of Winter Park.

Looking for something active? Catch a Snowga session on Friday afternoon to loosen up after ripping, and/or join us at the Hill House on Sunday morning to energize with some early morning yoga. Here during the week? Swing by the Village Gazebo on Wednesdays for live music guaranteed to be the perfect capstone to the day. Be sure to keep an eye on our events page for more info regarding happenings here at the resort!

Happy riding!
