Snow Report December 27

Welcome to the last Snow Report of 2018! What better way to conclude the year than with the opening of The Gondola! With the New Year just days away you’ll want to join us this weekend to end 2018 in the best way we know how – on the mountain.

From the live music and the dreamy snow conditions to the recent openings, this weekend is jam packed with everything you could possibly want to close out the year. Do away with past-year’s traditions and come make new ones as we all usher in 2019.

Gondola:

It’s open! Call your friends and load up the car because it’s time for a gondola party! Today marks the official opening of one of Winter Park’s largest infrastructure projects to date and the excitement couldn’t be more palpable. Access some of your favorite runs – in only 5 minutes – including Hughes and Balch via the comfort and fun of the 10-person cabins.

Conditions:

Snow-vember and Deep-cember were exactly what we needed to get this season started. With an impressive 109 inches of snowfall so far, hopes are high for more as we enter the New Year.

Yesterday’s 6 inches of snow put us over 13 inches in the last 7 days, teeing us up for yet another weekend of catching first chair and first tracks. Crisp, clear skies will grace us over the next few days, meaning the snow will hold up well to your confident carves. Widening our scope, there appears to be the potential for some snowfall on New Year’s Eve. Current models are predicting 2-4” on Monday – could there possibly be a better NYE?

Where to Ride:

The recent snowfall has softened things up nicely making everything from groomer greens to beloved blacks a joy to ride. Thanks to the skies above the incredible snowfall this year has allowed us to open 89% of our terrain. Depending on your riding style and your pow preferences you’ll have new acreage to take on this weekend, ranging from the famous Belle Fourche of Eagle Wind territory to the expert freestyle terrain of The Dark Territory.

Plan on arriving early this weekend to ensure you find those secret stashes and that untracked awesomeness in time to get your fill!

This Weekend:

A renowned local favorite, Trout Steak Revival will be taking the stage this weekend at Sunspot Mountaintop Lodge. Known for their classic Colorado sound, TSR will be right at home here in the mountains. While this unique New Year’s show has sold out, be sure to keep an eye on our events calendar for more upcoming live music performances.
