Snow Report Dec 26th: Carving in the New Year

2019 is winding down, but we’re gearing up for some fresh snow. Open Snow is forecasting 11” in the next 10 days. With the opening of Eagle Wind on the horizon, fresh tracks are in your future. After a day spent in the great outdoors, send it to one of our many events happening around the resort. Find your adventurous spirit when you tap into Winter Park’s easy access to unspoiled, majestic nature this weekend.

A southern storm is bringing more snowfall, Friday through Tuesday as it moves north. With low temps after Friday, snow is expected to be light and fluffy and stick around through the weekend. Saturday will be the best snow day. If snow continues through Saturday night, Sunday will also bring soft snow. This weekend we will see a mix of sun, snow and low temps. The conditions throughout the mountain are packed powder with a light layer of the most recent snowfall. The key to your weekend plans is first tracks. So stay slope side and get stoked for freshies!

Ski and Ride

Lifts will open at 8:30am from December 26th through January 5th. With the recent 2 inches of snowfall Vasquez, through the trees and down Gambler are looking like the cream of the crop. If you haven’t scoped out the recently opened Parsenn bowl, you’ll find some nice turns up there as well. Our Ski Patrol is working hard to get Eagle Wind opened up. As the snow pack settles we will see that terrain open up. We recently saw the opening of Dark Territory Terrain Park. Whether you’re skiing table tops or hitting a rainbow rail, we have something for you! Venture out and try something new this weekend.

Night tours recently started at Winter Park Resort! Finish out the day with the Vasquez Ridge S’Mores Snowcat Tour for the perfect date night or group event. A scenic snowcat tour is the perfect way to hangout after a long day on the mountain. Catch a sunset over the valley while enjoying drinks and s’mores.

On January 18th, mark your calendar for the Fireworks & Family Fest here at Winter Park. Sit back and oh and ah at the fireworks show during the monthly Family Fest event. Grab a warm beverage, cozy up by the bonfire, and spend the evening with your favorite crew. The event starts at 6:00pm.
