Snow Report April 18

Week 3 of April and we’re not showing signs of slowing down! Spring skiing is in full effect, with gorgeous days and soft layers making it undeniably fun to be on the mountain.

We’re in the last couple days of riding on the Winter Park side. After this Sunday, April 22nd, your bumping and cruising will be reserved for the Jane side only. So come out and take some goodbye laps, have a farewell beer, and participate in an adiós celebration: Spring Splash!

Conditions:

We’re still rocking an 82-inch base across the mountain, so honestly, it’s still pretty darn good out there! Sure the conditions are getting soft, but there’s not a worry in the world about runs getting sparse. PLUS, we just added 4 inches to the mountain yesterday to give it a fresh layer of powder to hit. Temps also stayed cool yesterday, meaning the snow stayed soft and fluffy.

Conditions should hold steady for the near future as we have another chance of snow coming Thursday night through Saturday. We’re expecting 7-19 inches! It might be mid-April, but we’re still building up that base.

Where to Ride:

The snow is soft all over the mountain. Spring skiing brings out a different kind of adventure, but it’s just as fun in our opinion. Check out the south and west facing groomers in the morning for some early softness, and then branch out to the rest of the mountain a bit later in the day to continue enjoying soft stuff.

Event Updates:

This weekend’s events are what Spring is all about. Saturday and Sunday bring Spring Splash and Throwback Day! Join us Saturday in your most retro, goofiest, weirdest outfit, and compete to win a season pass for next year. On Sunday, trade in the get-up for swim trunks, and compete in our oldest, splashiest spring tradition. If you don’t want to risk soaking yourself, enjoy from a distance, laugh at other’s misery, and cheer for the successful few.

Resort Updates:

Last Sunday, we said goodbye to the Zephyr Express for the last time. After 30 plus years of service, it is being retired and transformed into bigger and better. In its place, a 10-person gondola will be added this summer!

This Sunday is the last week of riding on the Winter Park side of the mountain. But don’t worry, the Mary Jane side will be open until May 6th!
