Who needs April showers when you’ve got April powder? Over 25 inches of snow in 24 hours is wrapping up this wild week. This week has been a weather rollercoaster, giving us every type of spring weather we could hope for. We kicked the week off with bluebird skies and T-shirt skiing, with temps as high as 50 degrees! But then Ullr reminded us even though we love the warmth, we love him even more. Thursday’s storm has been the deepest one this winter, bumping our season snowfall total all the way up to 314.5 inches. So, what’s in store for the rest of the week?
Powder pancakes and sips of bluebird are on the menu this week. Following this massive storm system, we’ll see temps rise again into the high 20’s and 30’s for a beautiful weekend of riding. Another storm is expected to make its way toward us starting Tuesday night with flurries through Thursday, bringing us a few more inches to keep the spring skiing going. Your best chances for powder days are Wednesday and possibly Thursday.
We’ve all been celebrating the fact that our good friend MJ will stay open through May 12th. While we celebrate her, we’ve got other fan favorites to ride too! On powder days, it’s always great to take a surfy, bump run down Outhouse then hit up the classics like Sleeper and Railbender on the Jane side. But some of our favorite deep runs are right on the Winter Park side! Nothing beats first tracks down Mulligans Mile or a soft and speedy Gondola lap down Hughes. You’ve only got 2 weeks to carve your name into Balch and Bradley’s Bash, so get to shredding!
We already know you’ll be spending your weekend with us to ski some spring freshies, so the fact that the third weekend of Spring Bash + Splash is also happening Saturday is the hot fudge on this creamy powder sundae. A wild week can only be followed by a Wild West themed weekend, with a rootin’ tootin’ day of jam-packed hootenanny waiting for you. A cowboy’s nothing without his horse, so make sure you come prepared with all the right gear! A cowboy hat, flannel, and maybe even cowboy boots are a requirement unless you plan to make your way to the top of the Outlaw list. So, saddle up and take your horse to Parsenn Road, and ride till you can’t no more!
