A Dog-Friendly Day
Morning – Grab Breakfast
You and your pup are gonna want to fuel up for a big day of adventure! Head to the Village for a morning kick-starter.
Once you arrive at the top of the bustling village, you’ll be met with the sweet smell of breakfast. Stop into Starbucks and get a tasty breakfast sandwich and grab your furry friend a morning puppacino to start the day. And don’t forget to stop for pets along the way!
After you’ve had your fill, it’s time to start the day’s adventures. You’ll need to go to the Lower Ticket Office to grab a gondola ticket for yourself. Pro Tip: 22/23 Ikon or Winter Park Pass Holders get a free ticket! Although it’s not a requirement for your pup to have a pass, how could you pass up an opportunity to have a Winter Park branded pet pass? Plus, 100% of proceeds from every pup pass go to Grand County Pet Pals! You must get your pet pass online in advance, so be sure to do this before you get here!
Once you’ve got your passes, it’s time to take a scenic ride up The Gondola.
Afternoon – Hit The Trails
After the gorgeous ride up The Gondola, your furry friend is most likely drooling with excitement (literally!) and ready to explore the mountains. If you’re looking for a scenic and mellow hike for your four-legged pal, try the Lower Roof of the Rockies hike.
If Fido has an appetite for high-alpine, try the more challenging Upper Roof of The Rockies hike. Either way, you and your pup will both get some sought-after fresh mountain air and exercise.
Late Afternoon – Mountaintop Hangout Anyone?
The gorgeous 360-degree mountain vistas have stolen your heart and your breath all afternoon long. You deserve a bit of mountaintop relaxation, which you’ll find just outside of Sunspot, where there’s ample seating and even more views.
By this time, you’ve probably worked up a sweat and are ready to cool down. Stop by Sunspot and grab a refreshing ice cream cone for you and your pup before heading back down the Gondola. This is everyone’s favorite thing to do!
Head back down to the base on the Gondola (or if you still have the energy to burn, the Ute Trail), and stop by the Village pond for a little playtime! While we typically don’t recommend humans swim in the pond, we must say it’s ideal for some doggy paddling on a hot summer day. Let your pup dip its paws in while you sit back on the grassy lawn and occasionally throw them a bone.
Evening – Dinner at Doc’s
You’ve had a full day of adventure, so now it’s time to replenish with dinner. Just a few steps from The Gondola is Doc’s Roadhouse. From hearty sammies to light and fresh salads, their special summer grab-and-go menu will fill you up. We’d recommend the Smoked BBQ Jackfruit or C.B.L.T. Call ahead at 970-722-5450 to place your order and pick it up when it is ready on the patio. To-go cocktails are also available!
Outdoor seating is available nearby, so you can sit outside while your furry friend is settled next to you (probably looking for some well-deserved table scraps).

Does my pup need a pass to ride the gondola?
No, neither a ticket nor a pet pass is required for your pet to ride the gondola. This pass does NOT give lift access and is not RFID. It’s strictly for fun! 100% of proceeds from every pup pass go to Grand County Pet Pals.
If my pup can ride the gondola, can they ride the lifts too?
No, pets are not allowed on the lifts. The Gondola is dog-friendly during the summer, but pets must remain on a leash everywhere at the resort except for the dog park.
Can my pup access hiking trails?
Yes! Your pup is more than welcome on the hiking trails, as long as they remain on a leash. Dogs are not, however, permitted on mountain biking trails.
