If you’re new to skiing or snowboarding, getting started can feel intimidating—but it doesn’t have to be when you pick the right mountain. That’s why we’re making it easy to get started skiing or riding at Winter Park. (Don’t believe us? We were voted “Best For Beginners” By the Wall Street Journal last year.) We’re proud to offer a welcoming environment for all ages so that everyone can love sliding on snow as much as we do! Here are a few ways that we’re the ideal destination for beginners:
Voted “Best For Beginners” By The Wall Street Journal
When we say we’re *the* place for beginners to learn to ski and have a good time doing it—we really mean it. And the Wall Street Journal thinks so too, naming us Best For Beginners last season (and ranking #8 overall!) in a round-up of hundreds of ski resorts in North America based on snow, terrain, and après.
Beginner-Friendly Terrain
Navigating the slopes for the first time? We’ve got you covered with our beginner-friendly terrain. Skiing and snowboarding as a beginner at Winter Park looks like spending time in our beginner’s area, Discovery Park, or in our learning center, Sorenson Park, with the help of a Ski + Ride Instructor. Our green runs feature wide, gentle slopes that are perfect for first-timers, and we’ve got a variety of terrain at the mountain to make it simple for you to progress your skills as you’re ready to try more challenging runs.
Award-Winning Ski + Ride School
Our Ski + Ride School is more than a place to learn; it’s an experience that creates lifelong memories and a love for being in the mountains. Last year, our Ski + Ride School was voted the best in the US by USA Today’s 10Best, and there’s a good reason for that! Our school offers top-notch instruction for all ages and skill levels– so whether you’re learning to ski at age 4 or 104 (or anywhere in-between), our expert instructors make learning individualized, fun, and effective.
Learn To Ski Package
The Learn To Ski package at Winter Park Resort is tailored specifically for those new to the sport. This all-inclusive package starts at an accessible price point of $169 and includes everything beginners need for their first day on the slopes: lift ticket, gear rentals, and a lesson. It’s designed to make your first experience on the mountain smooth and enjoyable, providing an easy entry into the world of skiing. (So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get out there!)
Day-To-Evening Activities
As much as we like skiing and riding, we know that the best part of skiing might have nothing to do with skiing at all. That’s why we offer a variety of activities to keep everyone in your crew entertained from morning ‘til after the lifts stop spinning. Whether it’s snow shoeing, snow cat tours, ice skating, or our tubing hill (voted the best in Colorado by USA Today 10Best), there’s day-to-evening adventure around every corner—skis or no skis!
Mountaintop Après
The après-ski experience is a fun part of mountain culture, and at Winter Park Resort, you can enjoy incredible views of the Rocky Mountains (and a cheers or two) without skiing at all. Every Thursday-Sunday, enjoy Mountaintop Après at Sunspot Mountaintop Lodge, right off the Gondola. Not only does Mountaintop Après offer stunning views, live music, and a cozy atmosphere– there’s no lift ticket required to take the Gondola up for Mountaintop Après, so your scenic ride is on the house. Whether you’re warming up with a hot drink, swapping stories from your day, or simply taking in the views, Mountaintop Après adds a special touch to your visit.
That’s just the beginning—now, all we need is you! Whether you’re learning to ski for the first time or looking for a destination that’s perfect for all ages and skill levels, we’re here to help you have an unforgettable vacation. Check out our deals and packages and start planning your trip today!
